Review: Halim café - زوّر وذوّق: كافيه حليم

This is a late summer lunch review from my last days in Ramallah. My cousin and I went to try this new café in Ramallah; Halim Café . The name says it all; the café is themed after the great Egyptian artist/singer Abelhalim Hafiz. He's one of the iconic classical singers who are renowned and loved all over the Arab world. The second you get into the café you can get the Halim theme; his music, portraits, and songs' lyrics surrounding you all over the place. The café also has a 'Halim'-color theme with classical light colors of light blue, light green, and beige.

هاد بوست متأخر لزوّر وذوّق لغدا صيفي من أخر أيامي برام الله. أنا وبنت عمي رحنا نجرّب كافيه جديد برام الله؛ كافيه حليم. الاسم بوضّح كلشي؛ الكافيه مستوحى من الفنان المصري المشهور عبد الحليم حافظ. وآكيد كلنا بنعرف إنو واحد من أساطير الطرب العزبي المعروفين والمحبوبين بكل الوطن العربي. أول ما تدخلوا المحل بتقدروا تحسوا بالطابع "الحليّمي"؛ أغانيه، صوره، وكلمات أغانيه موجودة بكل المكان. ألوان الكافيه كمان طابعها كلاسيكي بألوان فاتحة من الأزرق والآخضر والبيّج.

As a starter, we ordered a classic appetizer; tabouleh. Their tabouleh was one of those few that tasted like homemade tabouleh with fresh ingredients, enough tomatoes, perfect seasoning, and a unique crunch of walnuts.

بلشنا بطبق مقبلات كلاسيكي؛ التبولة. التبولة عندهم من الكافيهات القليلة إلي بكون طعمها مثل تبولة البيت بمكونات طازجة، التتبيلة المثالية، وقرمشة مميزة من الجوز.

For our main dishes, we ordered the pesto chicken sandwich in ciabatta bread. Chicken perfectly cooked, with a light pesto dressing, and a side of fries. We also had the salmon pesto pasta. I was happy to order this dish as I don’t usually find it in cafés in Ramallah. I asked for a customized sauce of both pesto and white sauce and the chef personally came to take the customization and do it. The sauce was rich and creamy, salmon perfectly cooked, with a final touch of parmesan cheese.

Overall, the café had a friendly welcoming staff, a relaxing atmosphere, and satisfying food.

للوجبة الرئيسية، طلبنا ساندويش الدجاج بالبيستو بخبز الكابيتا. الدجاج كان ممتاز مع تتبيلة خفيفة وخضراوات، مع بطاطا جانبية. كمان طلبنا باستا البيستو مع السالمون. كان لازم أطلب هاد الطبق لأنو ما بلاقي كتير برام الله. طلبت منهم يضيفو الصلصة البيضا مع البيستو والشيف بنفسه أجا ليعرف إيش بدي بزبط وحضرلي إياه. الصلصة كانت كزيمية، السالمون مطبوخ ممتاز، مع جبنة بارميزان.

بشكل عام، الموظفين كانوا لطيفيين ومرحّبين، الجو كان هادي، والأكل زاكي.
